Imagine this was floating, a communal sidewalk each side of canals to hold up the bridges and trees, people own their own lot with house on it. Transportation inside the town being restricted to electric boats and scooters (or golf carts) and walking or unpowered bikes and small cargo carriers. I can just about picture that behind some barrier islands in the Mississippi River delta, or in Mobile Bay, or on some large lake. If each lot was self contained, it could be undocked and relocated anywhere, common pre-approved floatie base type, possibly made (in part) of a forever-material like geopolymer, would make it easier. Excessive amount of flowers not required. The backside of the houses would be where you'd park your engine-powered boat/seaplane for travel to the mainland or other floating townships (literally, ships). But whatever, it's a beautiful place, showing that a place on the water doesn't need to look like a commercial site or shipping container or artsy museum site.

They don't have to worry about a road maintenance budget.
