Howdy!
I'm a married, Disabled, US Army, Cold War veteran. I have 5 kids between 17 and 27, and 1 grandson. I've been a member of both of the TSI forums and finally tired of the lead-on for donations, then being told a floating homestead is not going to be a supported function of TSI, with regard to 'seasteading'. Let them build a city and more power to them. I'd rather be a bit more spread-out and have some breathing room.
My concepts have evolved, over a number of years. My current idea is to build a large (for me) Ramform Hull, preferably w/o a permanent drive system, in order to potentially gain the definition of seastead, rather than being classified as a boat, barge, or houseboat. As something built to NOT have an engine room, and NOT using shore services, like water, sewage and electricity, from a marina, but to provide those things with NO intention of hooking up to the grid. A houseboat and even a live-aboard has hook-ups. A seastead will HAVE to be independent.
My current choice of location is in the Gulf of Mexico, and I hope to be able to implement an incubator site, to provide a place for building my seastead, and others, as well as a central location for initial parking, once afloat, as well as a mail and parcel service address. I expect it to take some time, before I can have a location, but am already working toward that. Once I can move there, I'll begin gathering supplies and building and outfitting my hull. On my income, that's going to take some time. Hopefully others will join in and rent some space, to build their own, as well.
